DESCRIPTION

A passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor) is an electronic sensor that measures infrared (IR) light radiating from objects in its field of view. They are most often used in PIR-based motion detectors. PIR sensors are commonly used in security alarms and automatic lighting applications.

A PIR-based motion detector is used to sense movement of people, animals, or other objects. They are commonly used in burglar alarms and automatically activated lighting systems.

A PIR sensor works by detecting changes in infrared radiation. When an object moves into the sensor’s field of view, it emits more infrared radiation than the surrounding environment. This change in infrared radiation is detected by the sensor and triggers an output signal.

The sensors sensitivity can be adjusted (using the SENS setting switch to adjust). The motion sensor can be adjusted to suit the height (up / down) sensing or level sensing (left / right) to approximately 90 degrees down and about 160 degrees up.
